The Requiem KV 626 and the Ave verum corpus KV 618 are among the most popular works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and testify to the unbelievable musical maturity of the just 35-year-old composer. The award-winning Bavarian Radio Choir presents these two late works from Mozart’s death in 1791 together with the equally renowned Munich Chamber Orchestra under Alexander Liebreich and the famous soloists Nuria Rial, Marie-Claude Chappuis, Christoph Prégardien and Franz-Josef Selig. Mozart’s unfinished Requiem will be heard in this recording in the version of the American musicologist Robert D. Levin.
“With Nuria Rial (soprano), Marie-Claude Chappuis (alto), Christoph Prégariden (tenor) and Franz-Josef Selig (bass) there was a solo quartet, which shines vocally, harmonizes and makes the thing really round. Rarely does Mozart’s Requiem combine the many things in such a happy and balanced manner as in this recording under Alexander Liebreich. ”
